The book is described on its cover as "A Guide to the Book by David Quammen." This means it is a guide to David Quammen's book. It does not mean the guide is written by Quammen. But the cover is written so you might, carelessly, think it was written by Quammen. I did, until it showed up in the mail and I took a closer look. Apparently ZIP Reads is an Amazon imprint, and the booklets are written by an anonymous author (or authors). Misleading marketing is a big "no, no" for me that immediately calls into question the value of the product.That having been said, the ZIP Read book purports to be a very short summary of the key points of the science in the actual book, "The Tangled Tree." Clearly, it is about that book, but I'd have to go back and re-read, etc., and compare carefully The Tangled Tree (which I had already read) and the ZIP Read to see how accurate the latter really is. I'm not going to do that. Not worth it. I did notice that on page 32 of the ZIP Read there's a reference to the scientist "Fred" Doolittle. Actually, the name of this VIP is "Ford" Doolittle.Finally, don't think you might be getting something even close to Cliff's Notes, or that it could save you any time at all in understanding or appreciating The Tangled Tree. It wasn't helpful at all.
