I grew up in a very strict Christian home and heard thousands of hours of hell-fire and brimstone style preaching growing up. Many nights I'd lie in bed terrified of what would happen when I died and met this angry God in the sky. If I "died in my sin" or with a "rebellious heart" I'd be doomed to an eternity in hell. This caused a lot of nightmares and sleepless nights to say the least. I ditched my religion after a year or two in college, but the fear of death, God and Hell has stuck with me, even into my mid-thirties. I just haven't been able to ever shake it completely. When life is good, and I'm calm and thinking rationally, I realize the idea of an eternal hell is ridiculous. But if I'm having a bad day, feel depressed or anxious, or sick, sometimes those old fears rear their ugly heads, and it is very unpleasant. I got the chance to meet Kelvin and speak with him on several occasions. He is one of the nicest, smartest and caring guys you could ever meet. He was genuinely concerned about what I was going through, and not just trying to sell me a book or a seminar or whatever. The information he shared with me, which was reinforced reading this book, has helped me tremendously to just say “Forget about it!!!” whenever the fear of death starts to creep in. I don’t let myself dwell on it anymore. The fear of death is irrational and robs us of enjoying the present moment. The energy wasted on fear is better spent on doing positive things with your life, spending time with family and friends, building relationships, and having fun, come what may. This book attacks the illogical fear of death from many different angles, not just religious. Whether you're afraid of something bad happening to you after you die, or ceasing to exist forever, or the actual process of dying itself, this book deals with it all and is sure to help you in some way. I was honestly at the end of my rope when I reached out to Kelvin. The fear of death was ruining my life, but after 2 decades of struggling with this fear, and reading on the subject, listening to YouTube videos, talking to a therapist, I was starting to think there was no hope for me. Nothing worked! But I was wrong. There is help and there is hope. I'm very grateful for Kelvin and the work he does. It has changed my life and made me more optimistic about the future. My attitude about death now is that whatever happens, I'll be able to handle it:) The relief I've felt has been nothing short of a miracle.

After graduating early from Dartmouth, Kelvin completed the TM teacher training program in La Antilla, Spain with Maharishi and returned as the New Hampshire State Coordinator for the TM movement. He continued to lecture, teach TM, and lead advanced TM residence courses, including a one-month in-residence program to 600 participants on the Science of Creative Intelligence (SCI) at the University of Maine, Orono. At Yale Graduate School, Kelvin continued teaching TM at the university and throughout Connecticut. In 1974, on behalf of the TM movement, Kelvin successfully renegotiated its lease with Yale University. He also taught the first TM meditation courses at West Point Military Academy, which involved lectures and meditation classes to several hundred cadets, officers, and staff.Within days of graduating from Yale, Kelvin got a phone call from Maharishi saying that the TM organization had a free first class round-trip ticket on Swissair's inaugural flight to Hong Kong and that he would like Kelvin to go there to teach TM.As the first National Leader of Hong Kong and Director of Expansion in East Asia, Kelvin established the TM organization and lectured to all sectors of Hong Kong society including business, education, and government, and was a guest speaker on television shows, at universities, and was featured in many newspaper articles in the South China Morning Post, Hong Kong Standard, Sing Tao Daily, and others. He also lectured and taught the first TM courses in the US Army in South Korea teaching on all the bases, including on the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) between North and South Korea. The last official TM project that Maharishi asked Kelvin to lead involved the training of Chinese American meditators to become TM teachers to prepare them to teach in the People's Republic of China. This special project was based at Maharishi International University (MIU) in 1978. Kelvin no longer teaches TM meditation, but credits Maharishi for revolutionizing the practice of meditation worldwide by bringing attention to the fact that any meditation can and should be effortless.Kelvin teaches both private sessions and group classes worldwide — including Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Although his days are occupied with teaching and speaking he is still very accessible to help people seeking insight into meditation and/or removing the fear of death.

To the Author Kelvin: I read about your dad’s death and how you involved your children with his final days here in the physical world, and your mom’s death and how you wrote about it - touched my heart. My condolences to you for losing both of your parents (especially with your mom’s early death). Adding this information in at the beginning of the book makes you (as an author) unfiltered and real. It leaves no stone unturned. For the Readers:In tremendous detail, Kelvin shares personal testimonials and stories (from clients and friends), provoking thought on all levels surrounding: recognition memories, past lives and reincarnation. And like a fluid stream winding throughout the book, he thoughtfully reminds readers the sheer importance of being in the "NOW", and the importance of living life in the continual present.

Overcoming the fear of death requires clear, compassionate thinking, which Kelvin Chin shares with readers throughout his new book. Kelvin draws on his strengths as a storyteller and a popular lecturer to explain why we don't need to be afraid of death no matter what we believe about it — and Kelvin covers the whole range of beliefs, from the totally materialistic to the most exotic versions of an afterlife. Since death is as normal a part of life as birth is, Kelvin effectively encourages us to stop scaring ourselves silly about it.

This is a childrens book inspired by the contemporary Christian worship song "Good, Good Father."The book follows a little bear along in a plot to offer a gift to the King of the land so that he can get the King to help his friends. Along the way many offer him ideas of what the King would like and which tell us a little about the King. The bear gets confused about who the King really is but continues on his way to give the King a gift. Upon meeting the King, the bear discovers that the King is a good father to whom he can always go and will always delight and enjoy being with him.The book has an important biblical message for all of us of the open arms of God presented in a warm way that children can grasp.I am a pastor reviewing this children's book and I loved the basic message of the book. The illustrations are good. The only criticism I have is that it seems a weird plot line to me personally that Tucker, the bear, feels the need to bribe the King with a gift to receive His help. That part is a little awkward for me personally connecting with the plotline but aside from that, it is a good book with a good message.

This book is well-written, easy to read aloud, and brightly illustrated. The parallels between the King and God are not vague. Chris Tomlin and Pat Barrett did a great job telling the story of a little bear who wants to know what the King is like. Immersive and entertaining, Good Good Father allows parents and their children to discover that, not only is God the King, He is also the Good, Good Father indeed. My kids love this book, and request it every night for bedtime reading. If you are looking for a book that will engage your kids in a discussion about the Father, I strongly recommend Good Good Father. 5 stars indeed!!!

It's a cute story. Those of us who know the song can appreciate the nuance of how privileged we are that Jesus revealed God as the good Father to us. For the child who doesn't know Jesus, however, it's only a cute story about a figure who could be easily confused with their Daddy. So in spite of the cute, I found it lacking in telling my 3 and 4 year olds anything that could feed their spirit. Which is the only reason I purchased this book.

I purchased this book as well as the board book version. Based on a Chris Tomlin song, these books tell a very special story of love. It is now on my top ten list of truly GREAT stories to read to the littles in my life!Too often in our world, our kids get caught up in cartoons - both books and video/video games - with too much violence and not enough love and kindness (in my opinion as a long time educator). If you want to expose your kiddos to a sweet message of love with beautiful artwork, this is a great one to grab!

Excellent story! Must get for your children. Great confidence builder also.

We haven't actually read the book yet but I would say the earliest age a child would be interested in this book might be around 8. The cover is a little deceiving on the age frame. I had thought it might be more for young children, but I doubt my age 6 grandson who is very much into science would be able to sit through the stories and find them interesting.

Incredible book! Such a great illustration of how God loves us, and how when we come to Him, He runs to welcome us and is eager to help us. Bought one as a children's gift. Then, after reading it, bought 1 for myself - to remind me of my Father's constant love - not based on my performance or anything I can give Him but on His abundant, freely given, love for me. I actually read it to my college-age son, and he was touched. So I bought one for him for Christmas and told him it was to remind him of God's unconditional love for him - and that one day he could read it to his own children.

I ordered this book after listening to the radio and hearing the author give a brief run down of the first part of it. I just had to know the ending.... I read the whole book and it is now one of my favorite children's books. I will be buying for any baby showers I go to in the future

I'm pretty sure I read one of Clifford Irving's novels many, many years ago, although for the life of me I don't recall which one. Then, when he got embroiled in the great hoax - writing a fake autobiography of the reclusive Howard Hughes - I pretty much lost interest in the guy. Even after doing jail time, though, he never stopped writing - and from what information I can glean, he's always been pretty darned good at the craft. As I've noted in many reviews, I belong to a number of websites that offer free and low-cost books in Kindle format. Not too long ago, I found this book, described as a "legal thriller," on sale for 99 cents (as we speak, it's going for $2.99 at Amazon). The plot sounded interesting, so I threw caution to the wind and blew my dollar on it. And what do you know? I really enjoyed reading it.To be sure, I'd call it weird; while it describes the life of a man and woman in love - and includes a trial in which the man, an attorney, defends the woman's elderly parents in a court of law - the whole thing is woven around a place that could be likened to a communal Fountain of Youth. Set not in Florida but high in the mountains of Colorado near Aspen, the tiny town of Springhill fiercely protects a big secret: a water source that, apparently, allows them to live almost unlimited years while retaining their youthful appearance and mental and physical strengths. Along the way, their solidarity has been augmented by the passing down of a special language ("harping," for instance, means seriously discussing issues among themselves with the intent of persuading one to a different point of view).Cool so far? Well, hear this: The townspeople's ruling committee agreed at the outset that 100 years is the limit; any person who reaches that milestone must agree to die voluntarily. Death is accomplished humanely (the ethics of euthanasia and assisted suicide aside), and all the denizens are okay with that simply because they get to live far longer than most humans and in much better shape. Everything, it seems, has remained true to plan for generations; but let's be honest: had it remained so, this book wouldn't exist. What happened is that Sophie Henderson, one of the townspeople and a committee member, met and fell in love with Manhattan attorney Dennis Conway, who visited Aspen to ski. Dennis, who has two young children and no wife, pulls up his New York stakes, packs up the kids and moves to Springhill to be with his love. Then, a local couple and friends of Sophie's parents are found dead, and her parents are accused of helping them commit suicide. Whether right or wrong from a moral standpoint, such assistance is against the law (this book was published in 1996, BTW) and the region's law enforcement insists that they be brought to trial. Dennis, believing them to be innocent, agrees to represent Sophie's mother, "Bitsy"; her father, Scott, himself an attorney, insists on representing himself. From this point on, my lips are sealed; suffice it to say it was hard for me to put this one down (I even kept one eye on my Kindle while I was watching the NCAA basketball tournament. I'm thankful that I managed to finish it before the Final Four games, when two of my favorite teams - Kentucky and Duke - will take to the court against other teams and hopefully face off in the championship game.

Two thirds good, last third a whimpering let-down. Too many spoilers to explain the substance of this Ci story, but suffice to say most readers would feel horribly let down by an end phase that made no sense or logic. Personally l think Dennis should have fallen off the mountain, the artist (who forgot his paintings behind!!!!!) should have had his heart attack and the town left alone. Clifford Irving wrote some of the most amazing court room dramas...pity he thought he could write out-and-out fantasy.

I want to like Clifford Irving's books. I loved "The Angel of Zin" and I'm waiting to love another one. This wasn't it. The plot is implausible. The end is not as suspensful as it was intended to be. The characters are not entertaining or likeable, and I can forgive a poor plot if the characters are great, but no. They are pretty much plot devices, a sort of exercise in "Hey, what if...?" and never really convincing as actual people. This reads like a rough draft to me. "Punch it up," I want to say. "Make me care about somebody." The ending is supposed to be moving, I think, but I cannot get excited about the fate of plot device people. The blurb said book clubs will love it because it opens a dialogue about euthanasia, or something like that. It doesn't. It might open a discussion about the perils of eternal life, but I doubt it. And the discussion wouldn't last long anyway.

This book has an interesting premise about a community that will do anything to protect their secret, but I felt like the main conflict(the trial) was not out together with very strong logic, and the end was a bit too tidy.It was a fun read but not the best I've read. The book also needed a bit more care by the editor, as it has several typos and formatting errors.

This book should be rated under the genre of fantasy as the main plot is somewhat unbelievable. It's really misleading to rate this as a legal thriller since only a small part is spent in the courtroom defending two of the characters. There are parts of the book that are unnecessary to the development of the plot such as the "mystery language". There are also parts that are "left up in the air" without explanation or seem unrealistic. Without giving anything away, what is "allowed" in the ending is quite unbelieveable - it doesn't match up with what has been disallowed in the rest of the book.

This was a great book. The punctuation and sentence structures were awful. One paragraph would have you in a blizzard, the very next in a courtroom...it was confusing. New chapters needed to be started to avoid confusion. I'm guessing that was from the book being converted to the kindle version. After all these years you would think they would have that figured out.

I loved Irving's "Final Arguement" and "Trial" and figured this would be more of the same. I'm not sure what genre this book was supposed to be. It didn't work as a murder mystery and for the Sci-fi/occult theme it was even less believable. All of the characters fit into molds that were too perfect and hence, unbelievable. It even had overtures of a romance novel. I read it until the end waiting for something to tie everything together but nothing did. Waste of time and money.

The book kept my interest all the way through; it was never boring. This was my first Clifford Irving book, and I enjoyed his writing enough to keep any eye out for more of his work. I was transported into the Maroon Bells wilderness, with which I'm acquainted. The trial sequences were authentic, and not embarrassing from a trial lawyer's perspective, unlike most trial scenes in current legal shows on television. My wife and I very much enjoyed reading the book aloud to each other. It was a page turner: once the tension in the story rose, we read many chapters in a sitting. I'd recommend the book to anyone who enjoys immersion in a legally oriented mystery.

A very thorough and non-cookbook hardcore stats book. I use this in my research to make sure I know what I'm up to. Also has excellent references. Bother that the tables are separate, what's the deal with this?

Haven't read all of it yet, but I've used the library's copy in the past and have found this book an excellent, readable reference on statistics for biologists.

Its a nice book.

Good price for a much needed book

Great condition, perfect for class, amazing price.

If you are learning or need to understand statistics, this is the ultimate book for you. It gives you a deep insight into the complexity of statistics in biology.

The book was in good condition, but it smelled very musty. Distracting when trying to read.

This was required for a statistics class. Thankfully I didn't have to get the information for the class solely from this book, otherwise I would have had to find some kid to buy 'medicine' from to give me an eerie compulsion to sit and read anything put in front of me.This book was unreadable and made me want to claw my own eyes out. I'm fairly convinced that the authors are actually robots, robots that were not programmed to be able to communicate with humans on a human's level.I also nurse a suspicion that the most basic information that you need could be written on a couple 3x5's, thus making this book ridiculously superfluous. But that's just me.
