This is a nice little chord reference book. It fits perfectly in the padded bag with my soprano uke. I like how they organized the book for quick reference. This book is very light and small. My only quip is that is is not very durable. It was delivered in a padded bubble envelope and was a little battered and bent upon arrival. I was hoping that it would be laminated for outdoor use, etc BUT the cheaper price should have been a clue as to the paper quality. I won't take off any stars, though, as I am not going to be rough with it around my uke. Lamination would have been a plus.
This is exactly what I was looking for. I needed something with large enough print that I could lay open and read while I was playing my ukulele but small enough to throw in my ukulele bag. The dimensions of this book are 4 1/2 inches by 12 inches so not really what you would call pocket size. This is the happy compromise of not too bulky but yet easy to read. This is a must for beginning to moderate ukulele players, 48 pages with the basic chords, including a ton of moveable major/minor chords and more. If you are more a more accomplished ukulele player you might consider one of the more comprehensive Ukulele Chord Encyclopedia's, which includes hundreds and hundreds of lesser used chords. For me, particularly for the price, this chord dictionary is more than sufficient to cover my needs. Add a circle of fifths chart for chord progressions and transposing and you should be set to go. Wish I would have had this when I first bought my ukulele.
Was looking for guide to proper finger placement. The charts in this guide show you which fingers to place on which string.Other charts tend to leave out this important detail. A few remarks on the proper way to hold the instrument were helpful.
Looks like a great little chord book for the uke but it was delivered with uncut pages and the entire book was trimmed crookedly, chopping off portions of almost every page. Bummer.
When I first started playing ukulele, it's hard to remember the chord fingerings. I like that it has the fretboard on the back, that helped me figure out the music theory behind it. It's had a LOT of use over the years...A must have gift for a first time ukulele player. Good to bundle that with the ukulele itself.
I bought this twice. I got one for myself, and one as a gift for another beginning player. As others have noted, it fits nicely in the gig bag with the uke. There's a little more to this than simple chord charts. There is a section on moveable chords, and chord families. For someone (like me) who is also just beginning to learn music theory that last part is especially helpful.
I searched high and low for a ukulele chord reference that was both complete and portable. Ukulele Chord Dictionary contains a complete key reference and hundreds of chords including all of the most important movable chords. On the back there is a fretbroad map covering the first twelve frets, more than enough for any soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele beginner. Old pros will not find any unusual or obscure chords here (or at least not many) but for someone just starting out or still working on memorizing the fretboard this is the perfect reference to have sitting in your gig bag ready to use.
This book is a great book to have on hand to be able to look up different positions of chords, new chords and for the beginner to learn chords. You can look at the book while playing if you want to find another position of the same chord to make switching during a song easier. I love this tool. I find it helps to have one of these for all stringed instruments.
