My 5 year old daughter loves these books, that my 8 year old reads to her. This was a particular favourite in the series.
My son is 8 and loves this series....personally, I don't like reading them, but they aren't for me. Thankfully he does well enough with these he reads them to himself.He is 8 years old and definitely has his own opinions on what he wants to read (not any of the hundreds of books his older brother liked...those, like oh, say 35 or so Magic Treehouse books, are dusty on the book shelf...). He likes Captain Underpants, the A to Z Mysteries, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and now the Stink books. He did read some Horrible Harry ones too, but he seems to have moved on from there.His second grade teacher says he reads a grade ahead...and for what it's worth I checked the 'lexile' on this one and it's 610 for those who track that (as a quick peek I noticed the Animorphs, the Boxcar Children, Magic Treehouse and Encyclopedia Brown are in the same general lexile range). In any case, he does love these books and read this one in one sitting on a Saturday afternoon of his own volition. I looked over and there he was, reading away. We love the Stink series. I have two boys that are eight and nine and they both really enjoy these books. They have a good mix of humor and a lesson to be learned and enjoy the books so much they don't even realize that they're doing their homework. My nine year old is more of a reluctant reader and he really likes the Stink books.
My son is a beginner chapter book reader. This is perfect for him. It is funny and the font is big enough. He finished the whole series of nine books within just a few weeks.
We bought these books over the summer to help my son with his reading. The first one was "ok" but it was the second book that peeked his interest. He is more than halfway throught the 3rd and is still interested. Good books for a second grader.
I bought this book for my grandson to read, he is five but reads at a 5th grade level, he likes these books and thinks they are fun. I enjoy them as well they are fun to listen to. We always want to know what happens next.
My grandson just turned 7 last week. I was going to buy him some books and he said, "Grandma, I can read chapter books now." So, we went to bookstore and checked out "chapter" books. Lots of choices for little girls but had to hunt for a character that little boys would enjoy. Stink fits that description!! In just one week he read both book #1 and #2 and so I downloaded #3 on my Kindle for him to read on our car trip from AZ to SD.
We purchased this book after my husband found it in the children's department. Our son fell in love with the Stink character immediately and wanted more of the books. Unfortunately there are only three published so far, and he is eagerly awaiting the next book. While he doesn't read them by himself yet (5 yrs old) he can't wait for the next chapter. There are enough illustrations to keep his interest and enough character development to let his imagination fly.
7 year old boy loves these. Pictures on every page. Challenging enough without being out of his league. Actual chapter which gives him confidence.
